The Power We Hold

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”— Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

I don’t know why things happen the way they do, but I do know that there is a power of the human spirit that is more powerful than we could ever know, and that power can never be taken from us, it can only burn more fiercely.

The more we source our power from within the stronger we become, to any outside force. It’s why texts were buried, voices were silenced and lives were ended, because they knew what a threat that kind of power meant. It meant those people couldn’t be controlled or manipulated, because they had already touched the gold these external forces tried to seek.

We touch into this power every time we go within, every time we release the egos fear and touch into that unstoppable, inexplainable force within us. And it can never be lost to us, as long as we choose to remember.

How this looks is different for each and every person, but that force within is always the same. We can access this power intentionally, at any given moment, but it often comes through more fiercly in dire circumstances, where we are able to tap into a power beyond what we could have imagined.

Each time we tap into that source, it’s like weaving a thread into a tapestry and the stronger the tapestry becomes. We are all unique threads, living vastly different lives, but each and every thread, each person’s ability to tap into their internal source of power, is important and needed. The stronger your thread, the stronger the whole. Don’t underestimate your own thread, no matter how insignificant it may feel, it is an integral part of the tapestry.
